Atlanta Version Bike to Work Day

This morning I rode away from the office to downtown Decatur and joined a group led by ABC volunteers. By the time we rolled into Woodruff Park to be greeted with coffee, muffins and bagels, our numbers had grown considerably. I couldn't keep up with the comings and goings, but the numbers were roughly 3 times the usual 1 cyclist per mile.

I found a few familiar faces and met several new ones including Liz who works at Flexcar. She was quick to point out their vehicles along the way.

In the afternoon, I stopped the Midtown Alliance booth and learned some of the faces of people I had only emailed previously. I'm familiar with them through their Commuter Rewards program that I participate in. Although they didn't have the same food spread as ABC, they did have a Clif bar for me.

Also had a mechanic try to find the source of a click somewhere around my head set when I stand up and work the handlebars. Like any noise you hear on the road, it disappears when you take it in.

Commute Summary

Round Trip Distance: 16.7
Number of Cyclists seen: more than I could count
In-bound Route: Decatur Bike Train
Out-bound Route: via Midtown Alliance's booth at Colony Square
Weather: We need to learn how to electronically reproduce weather. Today was a day you'd want to capture.

Hurray for BTWD. Good that you saw more than the usual crew.
