Bike to Work Week Activities
Here's a list of Bike to Work Week Activities I plan to participate in. There are many more in Atlanta I could list, but these are my personal picks.
- Wed. May 16 - Ride of Silence - Atlanta's version or this international ride begins at 7PM from Piedmont Park (Charles Allen and 10th).
- Fri. May 18 - Decatur Bike Train - Leaving 7:50 AM from the square into Woodruff Park.
- Fri. May 18 - Midtown Alliance's Outdoor Booth for recruited riders - Gift certificates for riders who recruit new bike commuters, 4:30-6:00 PM at Colony Square.
And of course, I'll be riding into the office all month and all year.
OK, one list I will refer to: ABC's Calendar of BtW Events.
Labels: bike-commuting, fun advocacy

There is no mention of "Bike to Work Week" where I live. I sure wish this community would wake up. I do what I can, but most of my co-workers think I'm crazy. Sigh.
Most of your co-workers think you're crazy for riding a bike to work? That sounds normal ;-).
Even though I count 20 fellow cyclists on my round-trip commute, it's still a terribly small percentage. If I stand over I-75/I-85 during my commute, that many people pass by every couple of seconds.
We're in the weekend of automobile use. It takes so long to wake up on the weekend. Higher gas prices and it will feel like Monday.

It's a little late in the game, but the LAB is asking for information about events to be sent here:

Glad somethings happening in ATL. I've not heard anything about events in SAV.
I've noticed before that ABC events (2 of my 3) often aren't mentioned on LAB. The Midtown event is targeted for just a few neighborhoods in Atlanta, so I'm not surprised they didn't forward their event to LAB.
Perhaps next year I'll make sure we get on the LAB's map. At least the rest of LAB's membership won't think we've withdrawn from participating ;-).
Off-topic, but I'll be rolling into Savannah June 16th as part of BRAG. If you've considered week-long bike tours, this one is great.
